Accessibility Statement

Effective date: May 25, 2026 · Pathshala Inc., Commonwealth of Virginia, USA

1. Our commitment

Pathshala Inc. is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for users with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to the Pathshala OS service and our marketing sites.

2. Standard we follow

We target the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, published by the W3C. WCAG 2.1 AA is the standard referenced by the U.S. Department of Justice for ADA Title III compliance, by the EU Accessibility Act 2025 (EN 301 549), and by Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act for federal procurement.

3. Conformance status

Pathshala OS is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA today. “Partially conformant” means that some parts of the content do not yet fully conform to the accessibility standard. We are actively running a full audit and remediation programme to reach full AA conformance, with progress tracked in our public commit history and reflected by version bumps to this Statement.

4. Built-in features

  • Keyboard navigation across the whole platform; visible focus rings on every interactive element.
  • Semantic HTML landmarks (<main>, <nav>, <header>, <footer>) and ARIA roles where needed.
  • Skip-to-content link on every page.
  • Form fields with explicit <label> elements, required-state announcements, and error messages programmatically associated with the field.
  • Light and dark themes designed to meet WCAG AA contrast (4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text and UI components).
  • Resizable text and zoom up to 200% without loss of content.
  • Captions and transcripts for our marketing videos; live-class recordings can be sent through an Institute-side captioning workflow.
  • Alt text on meaningful images; decorative images marked aria-hidden.
  • No autoplaying audio or video.
  • Reduced-motion preference respected on UI animations.

5. Assistive technology support

We test Pathshala OS with the most common assistive technology combinations:

  • NVDA + Firefox (Windows)
  • JAWS + Chrome (Windows)
  • VoiceOver + Safari (macOS, iOS)
  • TalkBack + Chrome (Android)
  • Keyboard-only on Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge
  • 200% browser zoom; 400% reflow at 320 CSS px

6. Known limitations

We are honest about areas of the Service that may not yet meet WCAG 2.1 AA. As of the effective date of this Statement, the following are known issues we are actively working on:

  • Some legacy PDF resume / certificate templates may have low colour contrast or missing reading order.
  • The live-class video room ships without automatic real-time captioning; Institutes can enable a captioning workflow via the recording API.
  • A small number of admin tooling pages still use icon-only buttons without textual labels — tracked for remediation.
  • Some third-party widgets (Cal.com, Stripe Checkout) are governed by their own accessibility statements; we link them from the Cookie Policy.

If a barrier you encounter is not on this list, please report it (see Feedback & barriers) — we treat every report as a P2 bug.

7. Third-party content

Pathshala OS may surface third-party content (e.g., Cal.com embeds, Stripe checkout, Daily.co video). The accessibility of that content is governed by the provider:

8. Feedback & barrier reports

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of Pathshala OS. Please tell us if you encounter a barrier:

We try to respond to accessibility reports within five (5) business days. Where the report identifies a barrier that prevents you from completing an important task, we will offer an alternative channel (email, phone, in-person assistance) while we remediate.

9. Regional notes

United States. We aim to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title III and, where applicable, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the 21st Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act (CVAA).

European Economic Area & United Kingdom. We work toward compliance with the European Accessibility Act (Directive 2019/882) and the UK Equality Act 2010, with EN 301 549 v3.2.1 as the harmonised technical standard.

India. We align with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, §40 (accessibility standards), and follow the WCAG conformance levels referenced by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.
